Social Media Bullying, Trolling, Shaming and Skinny Fat

Social Media Bullying, Trolling, Shaming and Skinny Fat - Lizzo Before and After Weight Loss

Lizzo is the latest example of social media bullying and body shaming, trolling, and hating culture at its worst. She is shamed (1, 2, 3, 4) when she is overweight/obese. And she is shamed when she does the hard work (she denies using GLP-1) and loses roughly 60 pounds (5, 6, 7) of excess regular white/yellow fat weight. Because she does not fit some unfounded/unscientific expectation of “normal”/“average”, as defined by science — which is to say, science has no clear scientific standard definition and standard scale in terms of what an ”average” human body/shape is versus “not average”, let alone “normal” or “natural”.

There is not one scientific study that supports the universal claim that all human bodies are born with the same general, uniform body composition — including the amount of genetic muscle tissue — and shape relative to height. None. It is 100% grossly assumed.

The science (8, 9, 10, 11) is clear; obesity is a disease, an epidemic, and unhealthy.

Social Media Bullying, Trolling, Shaming and Skinny Fat - Standard Body Type One (BT1)Lizzo’s images indicate a severe lack of genetic muscle tissue — skinny fat, particularly thin fat and cellulite (12, 13, 14, 15) — widespread across her body. All indications are, she most likely is not a standard human body with all 600+ muscles developed (16). The more skinny fat (lack of genetic muscle) a person is experiencing, the slower their metabolism (17) and the more prone they are to being overweight or obese, no less. Our MRI Study (18) is working on proving all of that.

Lizzo’s Weight Loss Routine – Diet, Exercise, Lifestyle, Metabolism

via Hola

Lizzo has publicly stated (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) that her “weight release” intention from the start has been to be healthier, mentally and physically. Her weight loss routine focuses on being holistic and sustainable, including a balanced (19, 20, 21) whole food, omnivore (she is no longer vegan) diet and safe calorie deficit.

Along with proper exercise (21, 19, 20). Especially weight lifting and Pilates to maintain and add muscle mass — while reducing skinny fat/lack of genetic muscle and improving metabolism, no less. As well as cardio, particularly jump rope, dance (workout class), pickleball, and walking/hiking. And 7 to 9 hours of quality sleep, keeping stress as minimal as possible. Thus, all indications are, she is doing all she can to be as healthy as possible.

While accepting her unique genetic body and shape as it is (how is this not body positive?). She can technically lose 100% of her regular white/yellow body fat (body fat %, common adipose tissue), yet her skinny fat (lack of genetic muscle tissue) will remain. Regular fat and skinny fat are two different things — they are not the same. Any muscle mass she adds she will have to maintain forever, or it will gradually go away (22, 12). No different than any other human being. She cannot permanently (12, 22) change her genetic body composition and shape.

Skinny Fat and Social Media Bullying, Trolling, Shaming, & Hating

Although perhaps a bit slow in figuring out and realizing how important health is, Lizzo’s conscious choice to positively and responsibly, based on the latest science, change her life to be healthier should be commended, not shamed. Especially as a role model for so many girls/women, no less.

Yet, the “body positive” folks have attacked her for being a hypocrite, trying to be thin, and betraying her message of “body acceptance” and celebrating bodies of all sizes. So, now safe weight loss and being healthy are not acceptable?

Some will argue that the criticism is fair, all things relative, and that Lizzo brought this on herself. Maybe. But it does not change the fact that she has chosen to be healthier, and has started to live the example. Better late than never, while most people cast the first stone.

Social Media Bullying Helps Nothing

Lizzo’s body, like all human bodies, is unique. But, until her unique body looks “normal” — what does this even mean, scientifically — online and social media body shaming, hating, trolling, and bullying continue unabashed. The madness persists because, right now, there are no clear scientific standard definition and standard scale that define “average body” or “non-average body”, let alone “normal” or “natural”, no less.

Moreover, there is zero scientific evidence that bullying, shaming, hating, and trolling help with anything. But there is overwhelming evidence that it all (23, 24, 25, 26, 27) causes harm, typically significant harm.

What chance does the average person stand, with infinitely fewer resources than Lizzo? The average girl/female and boy/male currently has no way to understand their unique genetics, body composition, shape, or metabolism, let alone a healthy diet, exercise, and lifestyle for their unique body. Well, until now. Our science offers real scientific answers and solutions for all of that.

Social Media Bullying, Trolling, Shaming & Skinny Fat – The Solution

Our successful MRI Study (17) will give the world the first-ever clear scientific standard definition and standard scale in terms of what an ”average” human body/shape is versus “not average”, no less, clarifying “natural” and “normal”.
